Welcome to Pumpkin Place
Our journey began with a summer vacation to Acadia and a pleasant stay in Bar Harbor, Maine. After that, we missed the salty air and the evening fogs. We missed the pine trees, cedar smells, and mossy trails. "When can we go back?" became a frequent question in our home. But we lived so far south, south of Baltimore, even!
We began planning our next magical visit, but it was cancelled by the beginning of travel restrictions and a wait-and-see year of pandemic and political crises. 'When can we visit?' changed to wondering out loud, 'What if we had our out place in Maine..." So we began a search for a piece of woods to build our own cabin on, a safe haven from the virus.
After purchasing land on a narrow coastal peninsula the last day of 2020, we began a new year with the goal of designing not just a getaway, but a home for our family the generations to come. A briny patch of woods with hemlock and birches and warm sunshine, where fog glistened on granite down at the cove. Our very own slice of Maine.
